PLEASE READ BEFORE SUBMISSION OF REQUEST
Please remember that while the Texas Government Code Chapter 552 which governs public information requests makes most information available to the public, exceptions exist. If an exception might apply, DCSO must refer the matter to the Office of Attorney General (OAG) for a ruling, unless the requestor agrees in advance to the redactions. If the OAG rules that an exception applies, DCSO will NOT release the information. Certain exceptions such as DOBs, DLs, SS#s, LPs, etc. do not need an OAG opinion before redaction. The OAG has 45 business days after receipt of the request from DCSO to return an opinion.
